Andrea is a commercial litigation attorney, and she handles a variety of business and commercial litigation issues involving shareholder disputes, corporate governance, fraud, and general contract disputes. Andrea also advises her national and international clients on corporate, commercial, and transactional matters, areas of foreign investment in the U.S. and Latin America, U.S. corporate formation and governance, financing, corporate law, real estate, and general cross-border commercial transactions. Andrea is licensed in Colombia and Minnesota.
Andrea is originally from Colombia and worked there for several years before moving to Minnesota. While in Colombia, Andrea worked for a law firm advising national and international clients in a wide variety of business and commercial matters involving real estate transactions, land use and development, corporate formation and governance, intellectual property, commercial contract review and negotiation, foreign investment, and general counsel. Andrea also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jose Miguel Mendoza of the Superintendency of Corporations, Division of Private Enforcement. In this role, Andrea drafted opinions and bench memoranda and presided over hearings involving commercial and complex corporate disputes, such as shareholder disputes, shareholder derivative actions, and corporate governance claims.
Her practice for several years in Colombia and the USA gives her the ability to understand and navigate the civil law system as well as the common law system. Undoubtedly one of Andrea’s benefits is her cultural competency.
Andrea is a passionate advocate of human trafficking cases. She has represented clients in human trafficking cases before the USCIS and has supported law enforcement agencies’ criminal investigations of human trafficking.
