About
Alex is a bankruptcy and commercial litigation attorney with a background founding and building a successful community-owned business. Alex represents individuals and businesses seeking to protect their financial rights or facing financial difficulties.

Alex has represented debtors, creditors, and other clients in bankruptcy cases and related litigation. He has successfully defended clients from trustee lawsuits and has represented businesses in successful Chapter 11 reorganization. Alex has also represented creditors including successfully obtaining relief from the bankruptcy stay and involuntary conversion to Chapter 7 liquidation. Alex also has experience in bankruptcy appeals within the Eighth and Second Circuits—including one case which the United States Supreme Court subsequently agreed to hear. Alex also has experience providing employment law representation to clients.

Before joining Sapientia, Alex practiced in the Twin Cities at mid-large firm. Alex also clerked for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kesha L. Tanabe in her first year as a judge. In law school, Alex had externships with the U.S. District Court Judge Donovan Frank, with Minnesota State District Court Judges Joseph Bueltel and Karen Duncan, and in the Rice County Attorney’s Office. Prior to law school, Alex helped to found Just Food Co-op, where he served in various management roles for nine years, helping to build the co-op into an established, successful business that is still serving the Northfield, Minnesota, community today.

Alex also has a history of extensive community involvement, including service on numerous community and organization boards and committees. As a result of his service, Alex was honored with a fellowship in the Humphrey Institute Policy Fellows program and attended the Blandin Community Leadership Program. Alex is also active in the Minnesota Bar Association bankruptcy section and presents CLEs and edits and writes legal publications.
